HEALING of Third Degree Burns NO
SKIN CRAFTS As reported by Dr. M.S., M.D. June 1, 2000 Saturday, while Jeff was holding gasoline to start a fire
and burn logs and brush First/Second degree burns on the left leg - from the top of
thigh to the foot, third degree burns on the left arm from the top of forearm to the hand.
Two hours later, his skin was peeling off, with an intense burning sensation. The doctors
wrapped his arm after scraping off the dead skin and he was scheduled for skin graft
surgery in 2 weeks they should wait
to make sure there was no infection starting. Tuesday he began PAPIMI treatments. Four minutes each
exposure directly on the burned areas. He was experiencing no pain during treatment. One
hour later, he reported that the burned areas felt as if they were submerged in ice water
and the burning sensation had stopped. There was no blistering. Thursday and Saturday, he was treated again with PAPIMI. Monday, he returned to his doctor for a pre-surgical inspection to determine whether Jeff could take the skin graft surgery. After unwrapping the arm, the doctor was shocked: Jeff's skin had totally healed! There was NO NEED FOR SURGERY. This was on the 11th day after the accident! The skin on his arm looked completely new - pink, brand new
skin. Jeff continued his PAR-IMI treatments for a couple days every week. 2 ½ weeks after the accident, Jeffs skin looked like a new babys bottom. You could not tell that there was ever a burn, except that Jeffs new skin did not have any freckles from the sun and the hair was shorter there. THERE WAS NO BLISTERING, NO SCARRING AND NO SKIN GRAFTS. Dr. M.S., M.D. |
